Daisy May Cooper congratulates ‘p***k’ brother Charlie for Bafta (Picture: BBC)
Daisy May Cooper has shared a special message for her brother Charlie Cooper after both actors scooped up TV Bafta nominations for the indisputably funny This Country.
The real-life siblings wrote and starred in the BBC comedy, which ended after three series in 2020.
Daisy is nominated for Best Female Performance in a Comedy for her role as the riot that is Kerry Mucklow, up against Aimee Lou Wood for Sex Education, Daisy Haggard for Breeders, Emma Mackey for Sex Education, Gbemisola Ikumelo for Famalam, and Mae Martin for Feel Good.
And Charlie is taking on the late Paul Ritter, who received a posthumous Bafta nomination for his celebrated performance as Martin Goodman in Friday Night Dinner, Guz Khan for Man Like Mobeen, Joseph Gilgun for Brassic, Reece Shearsmith for Inside No. 9, and Ncuti Gatwa for Sex Education.
Congratulating her brother, Daisy shared a throwback of them at the TV Baftas and wrote: ‘So unbelievably proud of the most talent human being / sulkiest p***k I’ve ever met for being nominated in best male comedy performance. I love you so much and so f**king proud.’

Charlie later shared a picture of all the Male Performance in a Comedy programme nominees, and wrote: ‘Hoping this ain’t a wind up. Thank you @bafta and shout out to all the This Country fam. These noms are for youse lot. Thank you thank you.’
And Daisy already has big plans for the bash, hoping to ‘minesweep drinks off the dragons den lot’.
Fair.
While This Country deserves to sweep up every award possible on the night, Steve McQueen’s captivating anthology series Small Axe leads the nominations with 15 altogether, including a Best Actor nomination for John Boyega.
After being snubbed by The Golden Globes, Michael Coel’s I May Destroy You picked up eight nominations and The Crown received 10.
