Craig Doyle had some hump day cocktails, which resulted in an unexpected hangover on this morning’s This Morning.
The 52-year-old had a night out with his rugby buddies, and as a result, he seemed frail on the ITV daytime programme.
Fortunately for Craig, who also works as a BT Sports sports broadcaster, he had co-host and human sunshine Josie Gibson to help him get through the two-and-a-half-hour programme.
‘I am joined by the one and only Craig Doyle, who’s not quite himself today.’ announced Josie, 38, in the intro to the show.
She placed a sympathetic hand on his shoulder as Craig took a deep breath.
‘How are you doing cherrub?’ she asked.
Craig originally tried to deflect from this hangover telling Josie, ‘I think it might be a cold or some allergies.’
However, he quickly decided that honesty is the best policy and added, ‘Or maybe it’s because the rugby guys and girls were out last night.
‘We were out for the launch of the rugby season.’
He then confessed that his pals may have attempted to deliberately disrupt his working day.
‘If you tell rugby players, boxers, and football players that you’re going to be on This Morning at 10’o clock the next morning, do you know what they do? They lock you into a corner of a bar and they try to destroy your next day.
‘They’ve done an okay job,’ he admitted.
Craig, on the other hand, assured viewers that it had been a good night.
An encouraging Josie threw Craig a praise, telling him that he looked and sounded fine. Craig graciously acknowledged the hair and makeup staff.
He closed by assuring the home audience that he was feeling’strong’ and that he would be able to make it through their hectic broadcast, which featured guests Michael Barrymore and Judi Love.
Josie was later informed that she was a subject of discussion throughout the evening out, which delighted her.
‘They love you,’ Craig revealed. Josie immediately responded, ‘Like really love me?’
Maybe a blind date is in the cards for the future!
Craig was ‘getting there,’ Josie said as the programme went. Next week, he should stick to Friday cocktails.
