Coleen Nolan hoping for a ‘miracle’ as she finally contacts potential long-lost sister

Coleen and Maureen Nolan may have finally been reunited with their long lost sister after years of searching.

The pair have been searching ever since they first discovered that their dad Tommy had fathered a child during an affair.

Now, they may have finally found her in emotional scenes that air this evening on At Home With The Nolan’s.

‘Our missing sister has always been on my mind,’ Coleen said. ‘When I was younger I thought I had years to find her, but now I’m in my sixties and Anne is approaching 70, if we don’t find her now we might never find her.’

The episode sees Maureen dig into the Nolan family history, putting their DNA onto a database.

Maureen said: ‘All those years of wondering and thinking, and I thought that was so quick and easy. What will the future bring, who knows?’

She added: ‘I know it’s science, but to me it does feel like a miracle, you know? Hopefully it will help find her, wherever she may be.’

Things take a step forward after a young man gets in touch with Coleen, saying he believes his mother is Coleen’s lost sister.

A message from the man reads: ‘Her birth certificate has been defaced, but her father’s name on the birth certificate is Thomas Nolan. Mum has searched in vain for years for her biological father and mum’s even ordered a DNA test.’

‘It literally takes my breath away,’ Maureen said after hearing it for the first time.

The message comes with the woman’s phone number and the pair decide to call her there and then.

After a polite greeting, they talk about the future and the chances of the DNA test coming back as a match.

‘We’re all really excited and hopeful as well,’ they said together.

The woman also revealed the moment she found out the man she called dad wasn’t her biological father.

‘I think I was probably maybe nine, 10. I remember it being a thing but it became more significant at the time when you need your birth certificate.’

They ended the call still awaiting the outcome of the test, agreeing to keep in touch whatever the results came back as.

‘It’s so great to speak to you, and I am really excited,’ Coleen said. ‘As Maureen said, if the DNA proves we’re not [sisters] I think we’ve gained a really good friend.’

The scenes air this evening, with the result of the test coming in 2021.

Meanwhile, Coleen recently opened up about her sisters’ cancer and fear that ‘she’ll be next’ on an episode of The Full Monty On Ice.

At Home With The Nolans airs tonight at 10pm on Quest and can be streamed on discovery+.
