Kaleb Cooper has shared what he thought the first time he saw Jeremy Clarkson, his Clarkson’s Farm co-star… and he was not impressed.

When Amazon Prime Video debuted in 2021, it was an instant hit, garnering excellent reviews while the Grand Tour host struggled to operate a 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds.

Kaleb, a farm worker, has been at his side every step of the way, giving crucial advice and quickly becoming a popular favourite among viewers.

The 24-year-old, who is expecting his second kid with his fiancée Taya, has acknowledged that his initial impression of the former Top Gear host was not positive.

‘When I first met Jeremy, I was like, ‘Who is this muppet?’ Kaleb wrote for The Times.

While he immediately realised that the 62-year-old was ‘deadly serious about farming,’ he was ‘anxious’ at the prospect of the broadcaster ‘fiddling around for a few days’ before quitting his job as Diddly Squat Farm’s new owner.

‘Being his farm manager is like being a babysitter. If you think that teaching young kids is hard, you try teaching a 62-year-old who never listens,’ he said.

Yet, despite their on-screen squabbles, the couple has developed a positive bond.

‘In farming you need a good relationship with the people you’re working with or the whole thing falls apart. I just wish he’d get it into his head that I’m the boss,’ he stated.

Jeremy has inspired Kaleb in his personal life as a father to his two-year-old son Oscar and the newborn he and his girlfriend are expecting.

Emily Clarkson, 28, Finlo Clarkson, 25, and Katya Clarkson, 22, are the presenter’s three children.

Kaleb stated that being a father in his early twenties ‘doesn’t scare’ him since he’s had obligations since he was a child, bringing money into his household to help pay the expenses when he was just 15 years old.

‘Taking care of your land, animals, and employees takes up a significant portion of a farmer’s time. But if I need any fatherly guidance, I have my own father and Jeremy. ‘I’ve seen Jeremy with his kids, and he’s a great dad,’ he said.

Kaleb recently joined in when Jeremy reported that an Inappropriate update had been made to a sign directing visitors to the Diddly Squat Farm shop.

Notwithstanding the uproar sparked by Jeremy’s harsh essay about Meghan Markle, which has since been deleted, the second season of Clarkson’s Farm just shattered watching records.

The presenter apologised for the piece, which became the most-complained-about article at Ipsos (Independent Press Standards Organisation).

Clarkson’s Farm seasons one and two are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
