Kaleb Cooper of Clarkson’s Farm has been distraught after learning that he may lose some of his herd.
The farmer, who was hired by Jeremy Clarkson to assist cultivate the land on his Diddly Squat property in Oxfordshire, has appeared on the reality TV show throughout the years.
Kaleb, 25, owns a smallholding of roughly four acres not far from where he works with the former Top Gear host and has previously expressed his desire to purchase his own home one day.
However, his intentions were thwarted this week when he discovered that a herd of dairy cows he’d recently acquired had a respiratory condition that had required part of them to be killed.
Kaleb broke the news with his two million Instagram followers in a video.
‘Now today’s a bit stressful. I’ve just found out the place where I have my dairy cows – the 21 cows that I bought – has got three reactors to TB,’ he began.
Fighting back tears, he let out a huge sigh before he continued: ‘I don’t really know how to describe the emotion. I know I mean it’s not all my cows and I don’t know how he [the other owner] feels – but it’s hard’.
‘It’s not good. Three reactors, so therefore we’ve got to test again in two months’ time. That’s three cows we’ve lost that are milking.’
The farmer, clearly startled by the circumstance, then let out another enormous sigh before the video concluded.
Bovine tuberculosis (TB) is a pulmonary illness caused by germs that can be passed from person to person or through saliva, urine, faeces, and milk.
In addition to infecting one another, the illness can be transmitted to people.
Cattle infected with it are typically slaughtered.
The young farmer must now wait to see if the sickness spreads to his other cows before deciding what to do with the herd.
His statement comes after Jeremy expressed his own dissatisfaction with what was going on on his property after two individuals stole merchandise from the Diddly Squat store this week.
Jeremy lambasted the culprits on social media for their sticky fingers, calling the one shown on tape as a ‘cu..’ and stating he would like to’meet’ the duo who stole from his firm.
