Chris Kamara has said that after receiving experimental therapy, he intends to be back on television in a couple of months.
The famed sportscaster suffers from the speech problem apraxia, as well as a thyroid condition, and has previously stated that he would ‘try anything’ to relieve inflammation in his brain.
Chris confirmed that he had the speech problem in 2022, when he announced his resignation from Soccer Saturday after 24 years.
Chris, on the other hand, has said that he intends to return to TV very soon, months after declaring that he would be using ‘alternative therapies’ to cure his apraxia.
Speaking on a red carpet interview aired on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, the star confirmed the ‘experimental treatment is working,’ adding ‘it’s been incredible.’
‘The way treatment’s been going, hopefully I’ll be back by Christmas.’
When asked if he would be interested in coming on GMB in the future, Chris responded enthusiastically that he would ‘love to.’
He then went on to perplex hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid, who were watching from the studio, by saying, ‘Ed Balls is on there, for God’s sake!’
‘And Hannah!’ he added, before correcting himself: ‘Susanna! She’ll kill me!’
Back in the studio, reacting to the interview, Hannah – sorry, Susanna – pretended to be horribly offended, before joking: ‘Unbelievable, Jeff.’
Kammy previously appeared on GMB in February where he said he had ‘inflammation on my brain … I have good days and bad days.’
‘What I’m doing is a gluten-free diet, dairy-free diet, I am trying anything, alternative medicines.’
Chris added he was ‘trying all these vitamins to try and see if it helps, and hopefully, fingers crossed.’
Chris raised eyebrows in March of last year when he appeared to slur his words during an appearance on ‘ Soccer Saturday.
Speaking in his ITV documentary Chris Kamara: Lost For Words, he said: ‘I continued doing programmes and, all of a sudden, people are tweeting me or asking my friends ‘Is he OK? Is something wrong with him? Is he drunk? He’s slurring his words, he sounds slow.’
In the documentary, the host discussed his diagnosis with friends Ben Shephard and colleague commentator Jedd Stelling, who acknowledged to having dementia concerns at first.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
