Charlotte Crosby breaks down in tears after learning mum Letitia diagnosed with breast cancer: ‘I’m living a nightmare’

Charlotte Crosby burst into tears as she told her closest friend that her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer while filming her reality programme.

The former Georgie Shore actress was pregnant with her first child with fiancé Jake Ankers when she learned her mother, Letitia, was ill late last year.

With cameras filming her life in Sunderland for Charlotte, the moment Charlotte, 32, informed her closest friend Lauren appeared as part of the fourth episode.

In it, she told her best friend Lauren Causer, ‘She’s got breast cancer Lauren, she’s a mess.’

Charlotte stated she was trying to be upbeat in front of her mother as she began to weep.

Charlotte later told the camera that the news slammed the family like a tonne of bricks.

‘She only went for a routine mammogram,’ she added.

‘There were no signs and no symptoms so the diagnosis has been a massive shock.’

She then informed Lauren that Letitia had tested positive for two forms of cancer and that treatment would be necessary.

‘She might lose her hair and she is beside herself and thinks she might die,’ she shared.

‘She is even more upset because I am obviously pregnant and I have to tell her not to think like that.’

Charlotte reported that her father had reacted negatively to the news and was not returning her phone calls.

‘I’m living a nightmare,’ Charlotte added.

‘I’m trying to hold it together but the second it enters my head I will absolutely crumble because it’s my mum and she’s my best friend.

‘I just can’t even let that intrusive thought be in my mind for longer than five seconds. I forget I am even pregnant now and I am really feeling emotionally drained.’

Providing advise During this difficult time, Lauren counselled Charlotte to take care of herself and her unborn child.

As the events proceeded, many watching at home were upset.

‘This episode is such a tough watch,’ one person wrote.

Another said it “truly touched home” when their mother was diagnosed with cancer a decade ago with no symptoms.

Letitia revealed in August that her mother had been diagnosed with cancer, and she has since undergone surgery to remove a tumour, as well as chemotherapy and radiation to rid her body of any remaining dangerous cells.

In October, Charlotte gave birth to her daughter Alba Jean.

Charlotte in Sunderland is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
