People, the winner of The Masked Singer UK 2023 has been announced… It’s just Charlie Simpson!
Yes, Rhino was the final competitor to be revealed after deceiving everyone for weeks and astounding us with his abilities.
Judges Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan, as well as guest judge Lee Mack, were startled when the star’s mask was removed, but rejoiced in crowning Rhino.
His victory came after All Saints actress Natalie Appleton finished third in the night’s first revelation.
Meanwhile, Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs finished second as Phoenix, just missing out on first place.
Judge Jonathan, as well as the studio audience, were certain Rhino was James Arthur owing to his unusual voice, but George Ezra and Jason Orange were also suggested.
Rita and Davina, on the other hand, were keen for Rhino to be Charlie after seeing multiple references to his identity in the clue packages.
The indications were there all along, from an equation equaling 3,000 as an homage to Busted’s single Year 3,000 to the phrase ‘breakthrough’ echoing their ‘breakthrough’ prize at the Brits!
Charlie, alias Rhino, had one of the most dramatic performances in the final, featuring a version of Lewis Capaldi’s Before You Go.
Rhino also sang a duet with Gabrielle, who had previously competed as Harlequin.
Charlie said that he ‘never anticipated’ to win the competition, joking that his greatest concern was forgetting his lines!
He joins Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud as Queen Bee, Joss Stone as Sausage, and Natalie Imbruglia as the ultimate guessing game victors.
