Vanessa Feltz’s reaction to a date that didn’t go as planned has stunned Celebs Go Dating viewers.
The 61-year-old TV presenter joined up for the reality dating series after parting from her husband, Ben Ofoedu, earlier this year when it was revealed that he had cheated on her many times.
While it has been over two decades since Vanessa went on a first date, she has plunged right back in, but she has made it clear that she will not settle for anything less than what she wants or deserves.
Vanessa had her first date earlier in the week, so it was time for her to meet with another possible suitor on Wednesday night.
When she met Richard from Manchester, whom the dating service had matched her with, he stated that he was’really thrilled’ to see where the night would take her.
Before the date, Richard stated that he hoped to create a “nice impression,” but things changed after he sat down to supper.
While Richard tried some small talk about their careers, Vanessa looked pretty disinterested and was giving some side-eye as she sipped her cocktail and looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there.
In a post-date update with producers Vanessa said that if she had been interviewing her date, she would have been ‘disappointed’ in her work, labelling his answers ‘dull’.
While the date progressed to the pair ordering dinner, the conversation then turned to football and Vanessa again looked like she had no interest in what she was being told.
She then grabbed up her phone and began texting while Richard was speaking in the middle of the conversation.
Glancing over, the meal seemed to come just as the discussion began to lag, but an awkward interaction in which Richard asked Vanessa whether he met her requirements for a man who was ‘dynamic and intriguing’ swiftly foretold catastrophe.
Vanessa made her move, which required getting up and leaving, rather than staying to enjoy the meal.
As Richard asked the camera team if he might continue his dinner alone, she offered him a handshake and made an outstanding French departure.
Vanessa told the cameras outside the restaurant that there was “no spark whatsoever” and that she didn’t think she had “anything in common” with her date.
‘Nothing, nothing, nothing, zero, zero, zilch,’ she continued before throwing her face into her hands.
Giving his opinion on the date, Richard stated that he believed Vanessa should have waited for him to complete his dinner before leaving, a feeling shared by many of those watching at home.
‘Shocking manners from Vanessa,’ one person posted on Twitter.
‘I have always liked Vanessa but that was cruel. He may not have been the man for her but it was nasty to leave half way through the meal,’ someone else shared.
Another added: ‘Vanessa Feltz was so rude to that guy. Poor thing. Hope he’s okay.’
However, someone else made clear they admired her approach, writing: ‘Life’s too short, mate.’
Vanessa previously discussed the breakdown of her romance with Ben, 51, claiming she was “happy to love him” but that he “trickled down occasional filaments of love every so often to make me think he loved me.”
She went on to say that there had been “so many lies” in their relationship and that she no longer wanted to communicate to him after they split up.
