Richie Anderson of Celebrity MasterChef lowered his head in shame after serving up a culinary catastrophe.
The 35-year-old former Strictly contender joined Dani Dyer, James Buckley, Marcus Brigstocke, and Mica Ven in the kitchen to try to impress judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode.
On Wednesday’s programme, however, the Radio DJ was unable to win over Gregg after plating a meal that had not been properly prepared.
Richie had made fruit punch jerk chicken with rice and peas and a roasted red pepper dip for dinner.
However, after cutting into the chicken, Gregg commented, ‘Chicken is a little bit Richie faltered, crestfallen: ‘Yeah.’
Gregg did, however, enjoy the sauce and dip, complementing Richie’s palate, while John stated that his chicken had no “problems.”
Speaking to producers after John and Gregg’s verdict, Richie hung his head in his hands and lamented: ‘I served Gregg Wallace pink chicken. I’m absolutely mortified.
‘I just wilted like a bit of spinach in a frying pan.’
Back in the kitchen, Richie appeared to be walking the walk of shame as he requested for a hug from his fellow contestants, with Mica running over to soothe him.
Unfortunately, it appears that Richie’s demise was foretold by the chicken, as John and Gregg chose to eliminate him first from the game.
Richie stated he was ‘gutted’ since he’d had ‘an incredible time’ but had ‘got the bug’ for cooking despite being a novice in the kitchen.
Richie wasn’t the only Celebrity MasterChef contestant to surprise Gregg, as Inbetweeners actor James, 35, claimed he’d never made rice.
Staring at him in disbelief, Gregg replied: ‘Oh come on!’
‘I know it’s really bad, that’s one of the reasons I wanted to come on the show out of shame almost. You can get it in a bag can’t you and put it in a bag,’ said James.
Gregg loudly giggled and looked down in shock following James’ confession.
