Carol McGiffin remembers shoplifting from the age of three until she was apprehended by police a decade later.
The former Loose Women star, 63, who quit the ITV daytime show earlier this year, confessed she and her pals experimented with the unlawful act before being discovered.
According to Mail Online, she wrote in her current Best Magazine column, “When I was three, I used to pop along to Woolworths and steal mouth organs and stash them in the cupboard.”
‘Later, at the age of 12, my friends and I embarked on a Christmas stealing spree, again at Woolworths, when I was caught with Sellotape and a porcelain horse in my bag,’ she continued.
When the police threatened her with a criminal record, the TV star was so terrified that she never stole anything again.
Carol lashed out her old employer after quitting Loose Women in May, having originally appeared on the panel in 2000, and took aim at former This Morning co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after his resignation, alleging things were ‘dysfunctional’ behind the scenes of their programme.
She also wanted ITV’s CEO to resign after Schofield acknowledged to having a ‘unwise but not illegal’ romance with a younger staffer.
She later issued a blistering rant during an appearance on GB News, saying: ‘Well put it this way, reading all the comments from the article at the weekend there are a lot of people who think the programme has gone very, very woke.’
She joked that even she doesn’t watch anymore and added: ‘You just don’t have to keep forcing this stuff down peoples’ throats. It’s not just ITV, the BBC is probably worse actually.’
Carol indicated at the time of her departure that she was ‘forced to make’ the decision, which left her “quite upset.”
