Carol McGiffin has confessed that she is ‘very angry’ over a ‘problem’ with her contract and is concerned about her future on Loose Women.
For more than two decades, the TV host has been a fixture on the ITV show, regularly igniting controversy among her fellow panellists with her contentious opinions.
Her tenure on the programme, though, looks to be coming to an end if a behind-the-scenes issue isn’t handled.
Carol said in a recent interview that she hasn’t appeared on Loose Women in two months ‘because I’ve had to break away from it’.
‘It was causing me too much stress, which was mostly down to a difficult contract issue I’d been challenging since January,’ the 63-year-old told Best Magazine, via MailOnline.
‘The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say “no thanks”.’
The TV personality said that she feels ‘quite upset’ about the situation, stating: ‘Although it is my decision, I felt like it was one I was being forced to make.’
‘No one in their right mind would have signed that contract. And I can’t see a way back from it,’ she added, also confirming that she won’t be taking part in the upcoming Loose Women tour.
Carol has recently became entangled in disputes on Loose Women about Rishi Sunak’s selection as Prime Minister, Halloween, and Matt Hancock’s tenure on I’m A Celebrity… I need to get out of here!
She remarked on the show in November last year that she was ‘disgusted’ that the former Health Secretary agreed to take part in the competition.
‘He’s not a fool. He’s doing a party political broadcast,’ she stated. ‘It shouldn’t be allowed. I’m absolutely disgusted.’
Meanwhile, after the latest Prime Minister entered No 10 Downing Street, Carol said on the programme: ‘I don’t have any confidence or feel inspired at all. I feel let down and disillusioned.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
