Brooke Shields stated that her ex-husband, tennis player Andre Agassi, reacted angrily to her appearance on the iconic sitcom Friends.
In the season 2 episode The One After the Superbowl, the 57-year-old actress played Joey Tribbiani’s (Matt LeBlanc) insane stalker Erika.
Erika assumes Joey is his Days of Our Lives character Dr. Drake Ramoray and goes on a date with him, ending up sucking his palm at the restaurant table.
However, the Chalet Girl actor revealed that her then-boyfriend and former tennis player Andre, to whom she was married from 1997 to 1999, was so angry by the risqué nature of the part that he stormed out before returning home and “smashing all his trophies.”
Brooke said that she later learned that Andre was addicted to crystal meth at the time, adding: ‘So that irrational behaviour I’m sure had something to do with that.’
‘In the scene, I’m supposed to lick Joey’s fingers, because they’re the hands of a genius, and I want to devour them, and I’m a nut,’ she said.
‘He [Matt] was cute — he was, like, “I’ve washed my hands and they’re all clean.” I was, like, “I had a mint!”
She added to The New Yorker: ‘Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out.
‘He said, “Everybody’s making fun of me. You made a fool of me by that behaviour.” I’m like, “It’s comedy! What is the matter with you?”‘
According to the publication, Andre wrote about using meth in his autobiography in 1997, a year after the Friends episode in question was filmed, and he did not respond to requests for comment.
Brooke disclosed information of being raped shortly after graduating from college in her latest Pretty Baby documentary.
Brooke reported the event occurred while she was seeing a man who claimed to want to talk prospective projects during a time when the star was struggling to re-enter Hollywood following some early success.
The Blue Lagoon actress did not reveal the identity of the man in question, but did explain how she returned to his hotel room after their dinner to wait for her taxi.
Brooke was sexually objectified early in her Hollywood career when she appeared naked in a project and kissed Keith Carradine, 29, in the 1978 picture Pretty Baby when she was just 11 years old.
