Bridgerton‘s lead, Nicola Coughlan, just disrupted the entire body-shaming narrative in one mic-drop moment.
In the first half of the third season, the Irish actor played Penelope Featherington, the series’ lead, alongside Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton.
And the second half of the season, which will premiere on Netflix later in June, will hopefully see #Polin finally have their fairytale ending.
However, the buildup to the new season has not been without controversy, with Nicola, 37, facing criticism for her plus-sized body on social media.
Zoe Strimpel, a writer for The Spectator, recently faced backlash from upset fans after posting an op-ed in which she exclusively criticised the Derry Girls actor’s appearance.
However, Nicola rose above the toxic debate during a special screening of Bridgerton season three part two in Dublin earlier this week.

During the evening’s Q&A with host Alison Curtis and co-star Luke, 31, Alison expressed her ‘bravery’ in embarking on the role.
Nicola expertly responded: ‘You know it is hard because I think a women with my body type, women with perfect breasts…’
The audience immediately burst out into laughter and applause.
‘We don’t get to see ourselves on screen enough, and I’m very proud as a member of the perfect breasts community,’ she continued, before cheekily adding: ‘I hope you enjoy seeing them.’
Fans praised the iconic answer on social media.
‘Nicola Coughlan you are a world treasure,’ @poliniverse wrote.
‘Perfect breast community RISEEEEEEE for our supreme leader Nicola Coughlan,’ @princess_beann added.

In early 2022, Nicola resorted to social media to ask people to stop commenting on her body.
‘Most people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real life human being and it’s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day,’ she said at the time.
At the end of episode four, Penelope and Colin eventually admitted their affections for each other, followed by a very steamy scene in a carriage as Colin set about pleasuring Penelope.
The future episodes are expected to feature even hotter moments. In an interview, Nicola discussed the filming procedure.
She said: ‘It’s not like, you kiss for three seconds and then you move your hand. We knew we had to hit certain points, but we were able to flow with it and make it seem natural and organic.
‘It’s amazing having that control. It makes you feel very empowered.’
Meanwhile, fans are hotly anticipating the erotic mirror scene between the two, which does exactly what it says on the tin.
Talking about the scene with Harper’s Bazaar, Luke said it was ‘essential to the plot’.
He continued: ‘I feel like you can’t always say that in television about a sex scene, but it feels like this is a moment of being completely exposed in front of each other.
‘There’s such a beautiful moment when they’re having a shared experience and they just laugh. In that moment, it feels so real and modern.
‘It feels authentic to them. They’re the gigglers in the corner of the ball, and it’s not performative or overly sexual.’
Bridgerton season three part one arrives on Netflix on June 13.
