Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker drops teaser for ‘new episode’ Death To 2020

Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has dropped a sneaky teaser for a ‘brand new episode’ titled Death To 2020.

The producer took to Twitter where he shared a cryptic 10-second video that confirmed his latest project will be making its way to Netflix shortly.

‘The creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make this year up, but they do have something to add,’ read the text on the screen as ominous violin music played out.

‘Death to 2020.Only on Netflix. Coming soon.’

Although details of the new chapter have yet to be officially announced by the streaming platform, it looks as though it could well be a mockumentary starring Hugh Grant.

Love Actually star Hugh recently revealed he had been cast in the project.

‘I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually,’ he told Vulture on Monday. ‘Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year.

‘I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.’

Charlie, 49, previously shared his thoughts on the first few months of 2020 with his Antiviral Wipe special for BBC Two back in May, but hasn’t done an annual Screenwipe since 2016.

Usually, the writer is joined by Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) and Barry Shitpeas (Al Campbell) to dissect the stories of the year, but it has not yet been announced whether they will appear in the Netflix special.

This mockumentary will be Charlie’s first project with Netflix since the streamer invested in his and Annabel Jones’s production company Broke and Bones in a landmark deal.

Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix.
