Billions actor Dan Soder accidentally revealed that the forthcoming seventh season will be the show’s final.

The drama series began by following hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) as he accumulated wealth and power in the world of high finance, but his aggressive tactics to secure high returns frequently blurred lines and became illegal, piqued the interest of US Attorney Chuck Rhoades. (Paul Giamatti).

It was widely lauded when it initially aired in 2016, and it is also acknowledged for being the first American series to include a non-binary character (Asia Kate Dillon’s Taylor Mason).

After departing the programme after season 5, it was announced last month that Damian would return for the seventh season, which is now in production, but it now looks that this will also be the show’s final season.

Dan, who portrays Dudley Mafee, stated that it was wrapping up during an interview on NBC Sports Chicago’s Football Night, but immediately caught his error.

‘Season seven, the final season of Billions, is on its way,’ he said.

‘Am I not supposed to say that? I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. I think so. It’s fine,’ he added, as reported by Deadline.

When questioned further by presenter Mike Berman, who said ‘it doesn’t matter, you just said it’, Dan doubled down and responded: ‘It’s the final season.’

While neither the show’s creators nor any of the other performers have revealed anything more, a description for the future season has previewed what is to come.

‘In season seven, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested,’ it shared.

‘Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.’

While Showtime, the network that airs the series in the United States, has yet to comment on the apparent blunder, it did recently indicate that many Billions spinoffs were in the works.

According to the Wall Street Journal, one will follow the Miami cryptocurrency scene, Millions will be about youthful and ambitious finance employees, and Trillions will be a’soapier’ drama about the super, ultra-rich.

Damian’s comeback was announced last month as he was sighted filming outside the Tower of London in November 2022.

Billions airs on Showtime in the US and is available to stream on NOW in the UK.
