Below Deck bosun Eddie Lucas called out Malia White for the way she handled Hannah Ferrier’s drugs drama.

Captain Sandy sacked the chief stewardess during Below Deck Mediterranean season five – just moments before a new batch of guests were due on board.

Things kicked off when Malia sent the Captain a photo showing a prescription box of Valium, a THC pen and a personalised passport holder with the initials ‘HF’.

Hannah was asked to gather her belongings and leave the boat soon after, despite later producing a medical prescription for the tablets to help with her anxiety, and insisting the THC pen contained a CBD oil – which is legal in Spain.

After Captain Lee blasted the controversial scenes, Eddie had his say on Watch What Happens Live, stating the bosun should have handled it very differently.

When Andy Cohen asked what he would had done if he had stumbled on a crew member’s drugs, he joked: ‘I would’ve taken it and gone to the closest Phish concert and had a great time

‘If I found that stuff probably the first thing I would have done [is] go talk directly to the person, and been like, “Get rid of it. Get it off the boat and let’s never speak of this again.”

‘But if the crews’ or guests’ safety was at all in jeopardy from her behaviour, or from taking the drugs, then absolutely I would have brought it to the captain’s attention.

‘And if that’s THC or CBD, I don’t know. But I think the first line of order would have been drug testing.

‘That really is the normal procedure in that case.’

Eddie’s comments come after Captain Lee lashed out at the way Hannah had been treated by her former colleagues.

The Bravo star has been a vocal supporter of the new mum on social media and, chatting to Metro.co.uk, he was adamant she shouldn’t have been axed.

‘I think that, had Hannah not been able to produce a prescription for the Valium that she had on board or whatever it was, then I would have terminated her as well,’ he told us.

‘But if she had a prescription for it… I’m not a doctor, I don’t have the authority to prevent somebody from taking properly prescribed medicine by a licensed physician.

‘Doing that, to me, is irresponsible and I certainly wouldn’t be presumptuous enough to put myself in the same category as a duly licensed doctor.

‘If she didn’t have a prescription for it, that’s a horse of a different colour.’

All seasons and every episode of Below Deck are available on HayU, with season 8 weekly dropping from November 3.
