The line-up for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing could be about to get much betta, with Baga Chipz reportedly wanted by the show.

BBC bosses are said to be keen to sign up the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star or her former co-star The Vivienne to compete for the Glitterball Trophy later this year.

A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: ‘There’s been a real shift in thinking on this in recent years, with contests having same-sex partners appearing more and more.

‘But ‘Strictly’ producers always try to do things a little bit differently, so they want to introduce a drag artist to shake up perceptions even further.’

They added: ‘It could mean that the drag artist in question performs dressed as a man or dressed as a woman – and that’s before considering whether they’re paired up with a male or female pro. There are endless possibilities, all of them exciting.’

Baga Chipz, 31, starred on the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019.

Could we see her performing in front of judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood? We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

It comes after Baga admitted last week one of her dreams is to land a role in Coronation Street.

She said: ‘If I could be on any show in the world … you could offer me the role of the new Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, but if you gave me an opportunity to play someone in Coronation Street, I’d pick that role over Hollywood.

‘My dream is to be on Coronation Street, I don’t think there’s anything bigger. I would rather be on Corrie than win a Grammy or an Oscar.

‘Even if they don’t want me as a character, I’d love to do some storylines, get mugged, deal with homophobia. If they don’t want that I’d just be happy going into Roy’s and saying ‘I’ll have a barm cake’ and walk out. Even a cameo, I’d love to just go in The Kabin like, ‘Can I get 20 Mayfair Rita? Ta love, see you later,’ and walk out, that’s all I want.’
