Astonishing moment protester knocked to the floor by camera after storming final of Sweden’s Strictly Come Dancing

On Friday night, viewers watching Sweden’s version of Strictly Come Dancing saw two climate protestors attack the stage before it was promptly shut down.

While two finalists were dancing, climate activists from the Restore Wetlands organisation ran on stage during the Let’s Dance grand final.

In an incredible video, the couple dash into the heart of the dance floor, one dumping what appeared to be yellow powder and the other waving a placard.

Within seconds of their arrival on stage, however, a camera operator abruptly halted them by shoving a camera into one of the protesters’ faces.

The male protester had his banner covering his face and didn’t notice an overhead rig with a camera swinging down on him, and he was pushed to the ground when it hit him.

Security then drags the duo off the stage, as competitors Charlotte Kalla and Tobias Karlsson continue to dance.

Police have reportedly questioned three persons on suspicion of vandalism.

The demonstrators were sat in the audience and left their seats for the action, according to reports.

A statement from one of the activists, Tina, translated from Swedish, says the climate situation is ‘urgent’ and they ‘cannot sit in the audience seat and just watch as our lives are threatened by climate collapse.’

‘We want nothing more than to have fun and I also love to dance. But my future will be anything but full of pleasure,’ she added.

Climate activists’ disruptions have expanded in recent years, with Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil often making headlines for their antics to call attention to the climate catastrophe.

Greta Thunberg, arguably the world’s most famous climate protester, is of course Swedish, and there have been a number of disturbances in the country in recent weeks.

In February, Swedish Eurovision artist Loreen had her performance cut short by Restore Wetlands climate campaigners as she attempted to qualify to represent Sweden for the second time in Liverpool.

(As an aside, she did qualify and went on to win for the second time.)

However, the diva had no ill will towards the demonstrator, telling Escxtra after the event that she initially believed there was a technical problem until noticing the ‘beautiful little activist’ on stage with her.
