Dame Esther Rantzen has said that she has ‘no idea’ how she is doing following a critical scan during her stage 4 lung cancer struggle.
The 83-year-old TV personality disclosed she had the condition in January, adding she was undergoing several tests to discover the ‘optimal treatment.’
She went on to say that she no longer wanted to keep it a secret since she disliked “skulking about numerous hospitals wearing an unconvincing masquerade.”
After consulting with her doctor, Dame Esther announced that her lung cancer had advanced to stage 4, and she gave her life expectancy.
The former broadcaster returned on Lorraine on Wednesday, when she gave another update on her health after the Scottish host, 63, inquired how she was.
Dame Esther replied: ‘I have no idea. I had a major scan yesterday but it takes ages for them to work out what it’s showing, where it’s showing so I’m in a state known as scanxiety, which is between scans.’
The TV personality previously stated that the diagnosis caused her to focus on how’very blessed’ she has been in life and on her ‘wonderful friendships.’
Meanwhile, her friend Angela Rippon, 78, recently asserted that Dame Esther was’very happy’ despite her lung cancer diagnosis.
‘She’s dealing with it as Esther would. She’s happy,’ the newsreader and presenter told The Mirror.
‘The last time we had any lengthy conversation, she was very happy being in her home in the country with her family around her. And that now is where she’s happy.’
Dame Esther is most known for hosting That’s Life! for 21 years, a show that featured a combination of investigations, current events, and entertainment.
In addition to her career as a journalist and presenter, Dame Esther founded the children’s charity Childline in 1986, as well as The Silver Line, which helps those who are lonely.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
