Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win: NHS heroes donating 10% of £500,000 winnings to charity

Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win: NHS heroes donating 10% of £500,000 winnings to charity

Ant and Dec’s new ITV gameshow Limitless Win had us on the edge of our seats on Saturday night, before Will and Kathryn took home a mega £500,000.

The nail-biting first episode saw the married couple – who are both NHS workers – take some major risks in the hopes of winning big, and thankfully they paid off.

After scoring a whopping half a million pounds, the couple have revealed they’ll be donating a portion of the sum to charity.

Midwife Kathryn, 28, and husband Will, 29, an intensive care doctor, from Bristol, told Lorraine this morning that they plan on giving 10% to good causes, and they already donate part of their income to charity.

‘We’ve always given away 10% of our salary to charity, so this isn’t going to be any different,’ said Will.

‘We’ll give at leat £50,000 to charities close to our hearts, like mental health and leukaemia charities. After that we’ll take our family on holiday, buy that camper van we’ve always wanted, and buy a house as well.’

The couple also shared they ‘aren’t ready for retirement just yet’ after keeping audiences on tenterhooks throughout the show’s debut.

First of all they risked their banked £100,000 to answer a question on how many sails and flags the Blue Peter ship logo has, with Will choosing to play the answer rather than cash out at the very last second.

With only four lives remaining, the couple locked in the answer of five – which was three lower than the correct answer of eight, leaving them scraping into the next round with just one life left.

However, in an unbelievable stroke of luck, a question came up next that the couple were adamant on the answer to.

When asked how many years will it be in July 2022 since Jeff Bezos founded Amazon, they got the answer bang on, earning them a cool £500k.

Turns out the gamble was well and truly worth it, as they then cashed out and left the game ecstatic.

Will and Kathryn shared with the Geordie duo – who were sweating the entire time over their risk-taking – that they rent a home, so they couldn’t wait to buy one of their own.

Sharing their experience of their time on the show, Kathryn told Lorraine: ‘It was unbelievable. We’ve never been in a studio with all the lights and Ant and Dec, the whole thing was so surreal.

‘We filmed back in October and looking back on the last three months it’s like “Did that really happen?”‘

The couple said they were used to stressful situations and having to react quickly thanks to their occupations, and it seems those skills came in rather handy indeed.

Limitless Win will be back this weekend as another pair take on the challenge.

The game requires contestants hold their nerve as they answer numerical questions to climb up the levels of the limitless ladder, hopefully banking money in the process.

But in order to remain in the game they are not allowed to answer over the correct answer or run out of lives.

Contestants lose lives if they submit a number lower than the correct answer, with the amount of lives taken off being the difference between their answer and the correct one.

It’s a tense watch, that’s for sure, and while many viewers were excited about the first contestants’ win, some were left perplexed by the rules.

Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win airs Saturdays from 8.30pm on ITV.
