Angela Rippon, 76, wows us all as she does splits on live TV

Angela Rippon is a British icon and she’s solidified this status by doing the splits on TV.

Appearing on The One Show tonight, one viewer wrote in saying they knew the journalist could perform the stunt.

‘I’ve heard you can do the splits Angela, could you do it to finish the show please?’ Host Rylan Clarke Neal read out.

Even though the message received a laugh from guest Fleur East, Angela was ready to show us what she’s made of.

‘The trousers are a bit tight,’ she announced as she stood up.

Co-host Alex Jones offered words of support: ‘Go on Angela, go on Angela.’

Not wanting to disappoint, the 76-year-old wowed us all when she did the splits with ease.

The impressive feat resulted in applause and cheers from Rylan, Alex and Fleur.

‘That just made my life. That’s what we want, that’s the content we come for,’ Rylan declared.

Alex added: ‘That is amazing.’

Angela previously told Platinum magazine that she needs to be in top shape to work.

She said: ‘Some things I could do when I was, say 30, I can’t do now.

‘But it’s important to maintain what you can do for as long as possible – then no one can ask more of you.

‘I go to Pilates, cycle, power walk and play tennis regularly. So staying fit has always been part of my lifestyle. I feel better when I’m active.’

The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One.
