It was a dramatic night in the Love Island villa as two competitors were evicted.
After a relatively peaceful day in the sun, fans sat up straight as a double dumping was announced – and we actually found out who was going home before the programme concluded.
Normally, Ian Stirling’s infamous ‘Tomorrow night…’ breaks the action and leaves Love Island viewers hanging – but not tonight.
The people had voted for their favourite islanders, and the three girls and three lads with the fewest votes were left exposed.
Many viewers were surprised to see Catherine Agbaje as a vulnerable competitor, while newcomers Leah Taylor and Charlotte Sumner also garnered the fewest votes.
Sammy Root, Zachariah Noble, and Andre Furtado, the lads, were left at the mercy of the’safe’ islanders’ judgement on who to dump.
After much consideration, the surviving islanders agreed that Charlotte and Andre would return home.
But fans were absolutely baffled at the lack off cliffhanger, as one said: ‘Wait they’re not ending it on a cliffhanger and we’ll actually get to know their decisions right away #loveisland.’
‘I think they were sick of everyone complaining,’ wrote another, before adding: ‘let’s keep it up they are finally listening.’
Another commenter said, ‘actually surprised me too, I was grumbling under my breath thinking “they’re going to leave it until Sunday.” [sic]
Andre, 21, claimed he ‘lived his Love Island experience to the fullest’ and’made amazing connections’ after leaving the resort.
The TV actor acknowledged that getting rejected was a “big jolt” since he had become accustomed to living “in the present day by day.”
He stated that he would have ‘loved to remain’ because of his and Catherine’s ‘connection’ and full-circle relationship, but he claimed he had ‘no bad feelings’ towards his fellow islanders.
Meanwhile, Charlotte, 30, who had just recently arrived at the estate, was unsurprised that she was picked to depart.
‘I didn’t think the girls would send Catherine home because she was ‘day dot’,’ she said.
‘I knew it would be between me and Leah, so I thought they’d save Leah because she had more of a connection.
‘I have no hard feelings at all. I had the best time and I’m so grateful.’
Charlotte believes Molly and Zach, as well as Ella and Tyrique, are real.
Charlotte also shared some insightful comments in response to people’s (quite honestly unpleasant) surprise that she was a 30-year-old islander.
‘I just think don’t settle. There’s no rush. I’d rather take my time, be single, focus on myself and I want to meet my lifetime partner,’ she said.
‘I feel young, it doesn’t matter.’
You go gal.
