Despite her fight with breast cancer, Amy Dowden said she was determined to return to Strictly this year.
The 32-year-old professional ballroom dancer revealed her diagnosis in May after discovering a lump in her breast before leaving on vacation.
She was getting ready to leave on her honeymoon with her new husband Ben Jones, who is also a professional dancer, when she felt something was amiss and went to the doctor in April.
The actress is still awaiting news on her condition after undergoing a single mastectomy.
Doctors will tell her shortly if she needs treatment or radiotherapy mixed with chemotherapy to cure her cancer.
While she awaited further information, she spoke to The Mirror about her comeback to the iconic BBC One show.
Amy revealed: ‘If I only have radiotherapy I’ll be back on Strictly this season.
‘Once radiotherapy is done there’ll be nothing to stop me, there’s no pressure but Strictly is leaving the door open. It’s having something to work towards’.
‘I’m visualising myself on that Strictly dance floor. Just being back in the ballroom with the live audience, the adrenalin and the atmosphere. And the support from the whole Strictly family.

She addressed how the dance routines should be changed to ensure she could do them as well as her 2020 partner, JJ Chalmers, who was injured in an explosion while serving with the Royal Marines in Afghanistan.
Amy explained: ‘I used to choreograph with one arm in my pocket for him. He’s been a great support, he says, “Cancer has messed with the wrong person”.’
In May, the actress posted a message on her Instagram account detailing her diagnosis.
It read: ‘Hey all, I’ve got some news which isn’t easy to share. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I’m determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it. Welsh love Amy.’
She also posted an update from her hospital bed last week with a picture showing her thumbs up and a reassuring message that said: ‘Step one to beating cancer! Rrrrrrready for this fight and more determined than ever to get back on the dance floor [sic].’
