Alison Hammond may have to return to her day job after audiences panned her cooking skills.
The presenter, 48, was given the opportunity to lead the culinary section on Friday’s programme of This Morning, and she chose to reveal the recipe for her hybrid pasta dish.
‘This is a dish for all the mothers and fathers out there who do all the cooking for the children,’ she stated.
She went on to clarify that what she was about to cook was something she regularly made for her 18-year-old son Aidan.
‘You know when I go away for a few days, I do this, cook it and put it in the fridge and he just takes out sections. You can take it out, pop it in the microwave and have with a salad.’
Going on to share just how the interesting dish came about, Alison said it was a ‘complete accident’.
‘I didn’t have any lasagne sheets one day and was wondering how I would be able to make lasagne because my son loves it,’ she continued.
‘So, I thought, I will use spaghetti and it totally works.’
However, when Alison went through the ingredients, which included lamb, green peppers, carrots, Worcestershire sauce, and all-purpose spice, her co-host Dermot O’Leary began laughing and couldn’t believe his ears.
Alison then said that she dreamed the recipe, promising that it would ‘elevate’ anyone’s ordinary lasagne.
This revelation elicited even more laughter.
Those watching at home were unimpressed with the prospect of duplicating Alison’s meal for their loved ones.
‘What the frig is she making? That looks disgusting,’ one person posted on Twitter.
Trying to be supportive of his co-host, Dermot then stated that, despite the ‘strange’ portion in the centre of the dish, it didn’t taste that awful.
Alison was a participant on the Stand Up To Cancer special in 2020 and was given the opportunity to show off her cooking skills. She was recently revealed as one of the new co-hosts for The Great British Bake Off.
The crew, which included Joe Sugg, James Blunt, and Alex Jones, was tasked to build little Yorkshire puddings and a biscuit scene.
Alison, on the other hand, had a comical moment when she was left perplexed after believing her oven door had gone missing, a scene that went viral again when her new Bake Off part was announced.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
