Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are looking forward to returning to This Morning on Monday after ITV slammed allegations about the co-stars as “nonsense.”
It was recently reported that the presenting co-stars, who have been fronting the show together since 2020, had formed a’strained’ relationship when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield‘s presenting collaboration ended due to his departure.
However, the broadcaster was quick to rubbish the claims, with a spokesperson saying: ‘This is absolute nonsense. There’s no tension between Alison and Dermot, quite the opposite.’
They continued: ‘Alison, Dermot and Holly are all valued members of the This Morning family and all enjoy working together on the show, as well as having friendships outside of the show.’
Alison, 48, and Dermot, 50, haven’t openly addressed the claims, but they have shared nearly identical messages on their Instagram Stories.
The couple reshared an Instagram image from This Morning that showed Alison with her arm over Dermot’s shoulder and the latter clutching the former’s hand.
The caption from the programme read: ‘Join @alisonhammond55 and @dermotoleary this week for some summer fun, including @johntorodecooks cooking up a comfort food classic, and a chat with @officialdannydyer in the studio on Monday! ✨.’
Dermot just shared the image on his Story, while Alison added a ‘Yay’ gif to accentuate her anticipation for Monday’s episode.
Commenting on the This Morning post, one fan wrote: ‘I love it when Alison and Dermot are on they are brilliant together.’
‘Brilliant way to begin the week 🙌🏻,’ someone else said.
Dermot recently showered Alison with praise while working together on This Morning over the summer, writing on social media: ‘Been a privilege to co-host TM with Alison for you all this week, and on behalf of an incredible crew and team, thanks for all the love!’
Alison will make her debut as one of the new hosts of The Great British Bake Off, with Noel Fielding, later this year.
Following the announcement of her new role, she admitted: ‘I’ll be honest with you, I’m just in it for the cake,’ while also telling Dermot on This Morning: ‘I am very excited.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
