Danni Menzies, star of A Place in the Sun, is the latest celebrity whose trip plans have been delayed by airport delays.
The 32-year-old Scottish TV personality has been trapped in Spain with a very pregnant companion, just days before attending a wedding.
To make matters worse, the only flight available as an option… is next week!
Danni confessed to her fans that the Air Traffic Control confusion caused her to be one of thousands fighting to get home, as she and her friends were scheduled to fly home from Mallorca yesterday (Monday).
Ranting on Twitter, Danni wrote: ‘Flight cancelled today! After sitting on a plane for 5hrs…. Airport carnage in Mallorca. Any idea on how I can get home asap with my heavily pregnant friend before Thursday as our best friend is getting married Friday!!! HELP! @British_Airways @Iberia.’
She then joked: ‘Anyone with a super yacht in Palma fancy giving us a lift across the pond? @British_Airways are paying….’
Danni took a photo with her companions as they exited the plane on her Instagram Story.
‘Got on the plane for a four hour chill…. & then got off again…’, she wrote.
Alas, things didn’t pick up, as Danni later posted a snap from dinner.
Her caption read: ‘And now we’re stranded for the foreseeable.’
Danni also said that British Airways had offered her a flight back to London the next week, which she, predictably, declined.
Danni joked about having to deliver her pregnant friend’s baby if they didn’t make it back to home turf in time as her due date approached.
In her last update, she pleaded: ‘Good job I’m a regular at under packing and so very good at washing my pants in the sink. Can’t say I’ve ever delivered a baby though. Can you at least get my pregnant pal home @British_Airways.’
Danni is not alone in having a hectic finale to their summer vacation.
Montana Brown, for example, was stuck at the airport and chose to relieve her thirst by drinking her own breast milk.
Meanwhile, Dawn O’Porter quipped that she ‘lives in Mallorca now’ when computers went down in a network-wide failure on Bank Holiday Monday, cancelling more than 500 flights.
Maya Jama and Stormzy were delayed on the tarmac in Greece as a result of the cancelled flights, illustrating that even the hottest stars can’t avoid the travel mayhem.
Flight craziness shows no signs of abating anytime soon.
Despite the resolution of the technical issue, National Air Traffic Services (Nats), which regulates UK airspace, has imposed ‘traffic flow limits’ owing to the backlog.
As a result, airlines have forced to cancel flights and postpone countless others.
