Phillip Schofield slams Prince Harry awkwardly ‘dodging question’ over Prince Charles and William: ‘You’re making it worse’

Phillip Schofield blasted Prince Harry for ‘widening his rift’ with the Royal Family after he avoided answering a question about his brother Prince William and father Prince Charles.

When NBC’s Hoda Kotb asked the Duke of Sussex if he missed his brother and father on Wednesday, the 37-year-old swiftly changed the subject by saying he was focused on competitors at the Invictus Games.

He said: ‘Look, I mean… at the moment, I’m here focused on these guys and these families and giving everything I can, 120% to them to make sure that they have the experience of a lifetime.

‘That’s my focus here. And when I leave here, I go back, and my focus is my family, who I miss massively.’

During Thursday’s edition of the daytime programme, the 60-year-old presenter couldn’t fathom why Harry couldn’t answer the question.

‘Every time he does one of these interviews… it looked fairly clear then, it didn’t look like editing. It was pretty clear he dodged the question,’ he said to co-host Holly Willoughby, who were joined by Nicola Thorp and Vanessa Feltz.

‘And every time he does it, you think “why are you doing this?”

‘You’re making it worse.’

‘Answer “very much indeed”, that’s all you had to say,’ Vanessa retorted.

‘It makes it less unseemly,’ Phillip added.

Before they wrapped up the segment, Holly commented on Harry’s strained relationship with his father and brother.

‘The whole thing is just sad, a real shame,’ she said.

Relations between senior members of the Royal family and the Sussexes have been fraught since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were stripped from their titles, and things escalated further after the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

According to recent reports, Harry and Meghan have been invited to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to celebrate Her Majesty’s historic reign which will take place on June 2.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
