Ozzy Osbourne has disclosed that, due to health concerns, he will not appear in the Power Trip event in October.
The Black Sabbath singer, age 74, explained that although he was thrilled to initially agree to perform at the California festival, his body ‘isn’t quite prepared’ and he refuses to provide a subpar concert.
Earlier this year, he had to put a stop to his touring activities after undergoing major spinal surgery because he is ‘not physically capable’ to manage the required travel.
Ozzy announced his performance cancellation through an Instagram statement that said: ‘Despite the discomfort it brings, I’ve had to decide to withdraw from the Power Trip performance in October.
‘My initial plan was to reappear on stage in the summer of 2024, and when the invitation to participate in this performance arrived, I proceeded with hope.
‘Regrettably, my physical state is communicating that I’m not yet prepared and I’m much too dignified to allow the first show I participate in nearly five years be mediocre.
‘The band that will substitute me on Power Trip will be disclosed shortly. They are personal acquaintances of mine and I can assure you will not be disillusioned.
‘Most importantly, I would like to express my gratitude towards my fans, my band, and my crew for their unwavering loyalty and ongoing support.’
He concluded by saying: ‘I adore you all and I look forward to seeing you soon. God Bless, Ozzy.’
Ozzy had a home accident in 2019 that exacerbated injuries he sustained from a nearly fatal quad bike crash in 2003.
He had previously cancelled his No More Tours 2 in Europe and the United Kingdom set for later this year.
The journey has been delayed numerous times over the past four years due to illness, the Covid pandemic, and logistical issues.
