Diana Vickers is facing widespread criticism after posting a video of herself ridiculing Princess Diana and Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Queen Consort.
The former X Factor judge, 31, broadcasts a podcast with pal Chiara Hunter, and the duo expanded out this week by writing an original song about King Charles and Queen Camilla’s affair, Princess Diana’s murder, and essentially how Camilla ‘won’.
Vickers and Hunter wear crowns and sing to the camera in the video, with photos of Diana, Camilla, and Charles flashing up on the screen from time to time.
‘This is a lesson for all of you side pieces out there,’ they announced. ‘Stay focused.’
A tape from Princess Diana’s infamous BBC Panorama interview then plays, during which the mother-of-two stated that there were ‘three of us in this marriage.’
‘But only one could be queen – Camilla,’ they sing.
They go on to sing about ‘side piece divorcée’ Camilla and King Charles’ affair, and say Camilla had her ‘eyes on that money.’
Vickers and Hunter even appear to poke fun at the death of Princess Diana, singing ‘We all know what happened in Paris,’ and say Camilla ‘played the long game.’
To put it mildly, the song did not go over well with fans, and the duo received harsh abuse in the comments section of their video.
‘I don’t get why this is funny, I find it disrespectful,’ one person wrote, while another agreed it was ‘extremely disrespectful to Princess Diana’ and ‘not funny.’
‘This is incredibly distasteful,’ one person said. ‘The lengths you’re willing to go to or a viral moment,’ another mocked.
One even described the song and accompanying video as ‘evil’.
She is not the only public figure to attract backlash in recent days over comments about Diana and Camilla: Royal commentator Jennie Bond was accused of ‘tarnishing and exploiting’ the late Princess.
During an interview with Sky News, she claimed Diana had told her Camilla ‘had been loyal, discreet, and deserved some form of recognition.’
Bond added: ‘Well, she’s going to get it on Saturday.’
Diana and Charles divorced four years later, only months before the Princess of Wales died from injuries incurred in a car accident in Paris.
Camilla married the future King in 2005.
The event will include music, hymns, readings, and prayers, as well as Charles swearing an oath of duty on the bible.
Both Charles and Camilla will be sworn in, with Charles receiving the sceptre and orb, which all kings are given when they are coronated.
