Daniel Radcliffe has opened up about the wild moment he watched on as Sandra Bullock was pelted with cheese on the set of The Lost City.
The action comedy, also starring Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, is released in cinemas today, and is truly a wild ride.
The flick follows romance novelist Loretta Sage (Sandra) as she’s kidnapped by a villainous billionaire Abigail Fairfax (Daniel), so that she can lead him to a lost treasure.
Chatting to Metro.co.uk, the pair reflected on the wildest moments they had on set, when Daniel recalled the cheesy ordeal his co-star had to endure.
‘I had a true “what is my life and what is my job” moment when I was on set, in the meat and cheeseboard vortex hurricane scene that happens,’ he said.
‘The close up on Sandy at the end of that scene involved… There were no fans for it, it was just 10 people hurling nuts and brie at Sandra Bullocks from point blank range.
‘I was just there going, “This is weird and cool.”’
Remembering the bizarre stunt, Sandra laughed: ‘I brought him joy. My pain made him very happy.
‘I love a cheese, it’s all based on our love of soft cheeses, but you don’t love them as much when they land on your person!’
After months of waiting, the Lost City has finally landed on the big screen – and we’re already demanding an entire franchise.
‘Brilliant, but reclusive author Loretta Sage has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan (Channing Tatum), who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, Dash,’ the official synopsis reads.
‘While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story.
‘Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her.
‘Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.’
Discussing whether we would ever get a sequel of Loretta, Alan and Abigail on another wild adventure, Sandra said she would be keen to delve back into the pages – with a few conditions.
‘I don’t know what that would be, I don’t know but never say never. It would have to be as good, if not better, than the [original] concept,’ she said.
‘I’m not going to the snow.’
‘We’ll draw a line under that now, we’re not doing Lost City 2: The Revenant,’ her co-star agreed.
On the suggestion that a sequel in the desert could be ‘fun’, she questioned: ‘For who?!’
Daniel jokingly added: ‘You film in the desert!’
Challenge accepted.
The Lost City is in cinemas now.
