Kristen Stewart has been snubbed at the SAG Awards following her performance as Princess Diana in Spencer.

With the SAG Awards being one of the best early signs about which films and actors will sweep up at the Oscars, plenty of fans think that’s the actress’s chance gone – and they’re horrified.

‘Honestly, I think the omission of Kristen Stewart has to be the biggest shocker *ever* at SAG Award noms,’ one viewer wrote, while another added: ‘SAG-AFTRA snubbing Kristen Stewart is not only the biggest Best Actress snub in the whole SAG history, it’s also the most baffling and upsetting one, seriously. These nominations couldn’t be more basic.’

‘Out of every actress that could have been snubbed, they had to choose the best one out of the lot,’ one more said. ‘Kristen Stewart gave the best performance of 2021 and it’s a shame that’s about to miss out on the top prize.’

Another confused fan said: ‘Well, we now live in a world where Kristen Stewart will also very likely be snubbed at the Oscars.’

Nominated in the best female lead category are Lady Gaga (House of Gucci), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) and Jennifer Hudson (Respect).

Meanwhile, the best male lead nominees are Will Smith (King Richard), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick … Boom!) and Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos).

The nominations were announced by Vanessa Hudgens and Rosario Dawson, with the awards ceremony set for February 28.

Kristen, 31, was widely praised for her performance in Spencer, despite the film being largely divisive, not least for its portrayal of Princess Diana’s eating disorder.

The film follows Princess Diana over the course of one Christmas holiday in 1991, spent at Sandringham with the rest of the royal family.
