Spider-Man: No Way Home is officially here and fans can’t wait to see how the third instalment of Tom Holland’s series plays out.
Of course, it’s just the latest in a long line of Spidey movies, with villains from films of old returning to make an appearance as the multiverse comes into play.
So far, we know that the likes of Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin will be returning to haunt Tom’s Peter Parker.
Meanwhile, some fans are convinced that, despite many denials, past Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will appear in the new film.
While only time will tell about how many fan theories are true, some might want to revisit the past films to prepare for the arrival of some legendary villains.
How many Spider-Man movies are there and who has played the superhero?
Including Spider-Man: No Way Home, there are nine films to sink your teeth (or fangs) into, with more on the way.
So far, four actors have taken on the role as Spider-Man. Tobey Maguire starred as Peter Parker from 2002 to 2007 in Sam Raimi’s trilogy.
Then, Andrew Garfield took on the role in Marc Webb’s two films, from 2012 to 2014.
Tom Holland then took over as the first Spider-Man to cross over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in various movies from 2016 onwards. As well as his three films, he appears in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
Meanwhile, in 2018, the animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was released, featuring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, a different version of Spider-Man.
