Lena Headey was a far cry from Game of Thrones as she took on Michael Caine in their gritty new film, Twist.
The pair headed up a star-studded cast for the action movie, a modern take on Oliver Twist, starring alongside Rita Ora, Rafferty Law, David Walliams and Sophie Simnett.
Ahead of the flick’s release, on January 29, a clip shared exclusively with Metro.co.uk sees the old friends having an intense showdown in a warehouse.
Sikes is full of sass when she arrives to meet gang leader Fagin (Michael Caine), to discuss a fallen member of the team.
She pays no mind when Fagin warns that his friends are ‘not disposable’.
‘That’s exactly what they are, my old friend,’ she replies. ‘No friends, no family, no questions.’
Talk soon turns to an upcoming job, with both secretly drawing their guns, ready to launch an attack.
The end of the clip sees them appearing to put their differences – and their weapons – to one side for the sake of a heist.
Fagin and Sikes conclude that they are ‘partners’, but how long will that partnership hold up?
Thankfully we don’t have long to wait until we find out, with the film available to watch from Friday.
Far from the classic Charles Dickens tale we’ve seen and read countless times before, Twist has been adapted into a heist movie instead, with Martin Owen at the helm of the Sky Originals project.
Rather than an orphaned boy begging for another bowl of gruel, Rafferty’s Oliver is a streetwise artist whose encounter with Dodge (Rita Ora) sees him get involved in an underground world of crime.
The gang are tasked with stealing a priceless painting from Losberne (David Walliams) for their boss – but will they be able to follow orders without getting caught?
Lena couldn’t contain herself before filming began, stating: ‘I couldn’t be more excited to take on the iconic character of Sikes from Oliver Twist.
‘Flipping roles without apology or character softening is a brilliant way to breathe new life into established materials and bring it to new audiences.’
Twist, a Sky Original film, only on Sky Cinema from January 29.
