Ed Sheeran has tested his acting talents in recent years, and it appears that he may make another cameo in an upcoming comedy.
The 32-year-old British singer has been spotted in the trailer for Adam Deacon’s new film Sumotherhood, which hits theatres on October 13.
Sheeran pokes his head inside Deacon’s car, bulging his eyes and clawing at his own neck while saying, ‘Oi oi, what you lot sayin!’
To fit into the new part, he looks to be wearing a lot of make-up, with his face coated in grime as he works to perfect the appearance for the film.
It’s unclear how much Sheeran will appear in the film or whether he will have any further parts, but fans will be overjoyed to see the Thinking Out Loud singer.
He’s not the only prominent face in the picture, with Jennifer Saunders, Lethal Bizzle, and Jeremy Corbyn also set to feature in cameo parts.
Saunders shoots a taser, Lethal Bizzle (actual name Max Ansah) gets into a brawl, and Corbyn just shouts, ‘Allow it, wasteman!’
Sumotherhood is the follow-up to 2011’s Anuvahood, which was a comic spin-off from the Kidulthood franchise, in which Deacon had a key role.
The forthcoming film follows K, portrayed by Deacon, and his pal Rico, played by Jazzie Zonzolo, as they try to pay off £15,000 in debts.
The Sun’s Bizarre column said of Sheeran’s role: ‘Ed plays this bloke who’s not got a home and looks like a crack addict. It was filmed a while ago.
‘Everyone wants to see Ed. He doesn’t have a massive part in the film – fans will recognise him straight away [but] they’ve never seen him looking like this.’
Sheeran began his acting career in 2014 when he appeared as himself on a New Zealand soap opera series called Shortland Street.
Since then he has gone on to appear in Game of Thrones and Danny Boyle film Yesterday, while voicing one-off character Brendan in The Simpsons.
Sumotherhood will be in cinemas October 13.
