It appears that no fairytale characters or Disney films we loved as kids are safe from the current horror remake craze. Cinderella’s Curse has received its first sight.
ITN, which was also in charge of the creation of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey earlier this year, has shared a few appropriately grisly photos from the next film.
The filming of this new rendition, which is set to be released around Halloween, is presently underway in the United Kingdom.
Louisa Warren, who also acts as producer, directs and produces Cinderella’s Curse. Cinderella is played by Kelly Rian Sanson, the Fairy Godmother is played by Chrissie Wuna, and Cinderella’s Stepmother is played by Danielle Scott.
While storyline specifics are being kept under wraps, it is rumoured that a script by Harry Boxley would provide a “bone-tingling twist” to the traditional scenario.
In one shot, Sanson is dressed as Cinderella, with blonde ringlets and soaked in sweat and blood as she examines an axe. In another, she appears to be in shock.
Another photograph shows her responding terrified to something off-screen, while another shows a blonde lady wearing a bloodied face mask and raising her arm, maybe to swing a knife?’
According to writer-director Warren’s conversation with Variety, “This is a completely unique reimagination of the Cinderella we all grew up with.”
She continued, asserting that there will be a series of absolutely horrific killings attributed to her. “My dark recreation of the tale promises a feast for gore enthusiasts.”
This version appears to depart greatly from Disney’s 1950 animated Cinderella, which is famous for its cute talking mice and magical features.

“Seeing Pooh and Piglet in their masks for the first time was truly horrifying. When you’re being chased by Pooh, you don’t have to act; the fear is real, which helped a lot,” she said in recalling the experience.
She further added, “It wasn’t just Alice being terrified on screen; Amber was truly scared!”
The director of the Pooh picture, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, is also keeping within the fairytale genre, working on Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare, as well as a sequel to Blood and Honey.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey generated more than $5 million on a rumoured $100,000 budget. This economic success has prompted Wakefield and Warren to meet the rising demand for further horror remakes.
Cinderella’s Curse is set for a release in October 2023.
