Disney calls Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit ‘sad and distressing’ as star sues over Black Widow’s streaming release

Disney has accused Scarlett Johansson of getting a ‘callous disregard for the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic’, after the actress sued the corporate for releasing Black Widow on streaming.

Johansson, 36, has sued Disney for releasing her standalone Marvel movie Black Widow on its streaming platform Disney Plus on the similar time it was launched in cinemas, alleging this was a breach of her contract.

The actress, who performs the titular superhero, aka Natasha Romanoff, within the movie, claims that her contract with Disney’s Marvel Entertainment was for a assured unique film theatre launch, with the majority of her wage relying largely on the movie’s field workplace efficiency – and alleges that the transfer to streaming prevented her from ‘realising the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel’.

In a press release, Disney has known as the lawsuit ‘sad and distressing’.
