Chris Hemsworth goes on action-packed rampage in explosive Extraction 2 trailer

The first trailer for Extraction 2 has here, and Chris Hemsworth has once again proven that he is not to be trifled with.

Following the great success of the first film, which shattered Netflix records when it was released in 2020, it was revealed that a much-needed sequel will be produced.

Despite the fact that we had to wait three years to see Tyler Rake (Chris) return to our screens, the teaser has proven that it was well worth the wait.

The sequel, which will be available on Netflix on June 16, depicts the mercenary on another rescue mission after barely surviving his previous attempts.

It’s not quite business as usual because he has been personally requested for the expedition, raising doubts about why the customer wants him to lead the way.

‘You were clinically dead nine months ago but you survived, you fought your way back,’ Tyler is told.

‘You just have to find out why.’

A series of action-packed moments in which he fights everybody who gets in his way, including one insane scenario in which he battles someone while on fire.

Well, if anyone can…

The all-too-brief trailer ends with Tyler cryptically warning: ‘You told me to find the reason I fought my way back. Let’s find out.’

Fans were eagerly awaiting the film and took to Twitter to express their enthusiasm ahead of the release.

A follower penned: ‘By Thors hammer, this looks good!’

Another praised: ‘Pumped for this one. The action in #Extraction2 looks unreal! that camerawork!’

As a Twitter user added: ‘Loved the first movie, can’t wait for June already #Extraction2.’

The official synopsis reads: ‘After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.’

Sam Hargrave will be serving as director once again, with Joe Russo writing the script.

Chris is joined by former co-stars Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa, who have returned as Nik Khan and Yaz Khan respectively.

While Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili have also joined in the fun.

Sam previously revealed that they well and truly raised the stakes for Tyler’s second outing – and actually set Chris on fire to achieve one shot.

‘Hats off to Chris. It wasn’t CG fire. And he had to do it over and over,’ he told Empire. ‘I don’t know a lot of people, let alone Hollywood A-listers, who are going to let you light them on fire while on camera.

‘We lit Chris Hemsworth on fire, and he beat up a bunch of guys all night. It was pretty incredible to watch.’

Extraction 2 is released on Netflix on June 16.
