The Father was an awards season favourite, with Sir Anthony Hopkins winning the Oscar for best actor – and now, you can see what all the fuss is about.

The drama is in cinemas today, opting for a theatrical release instead of straight to streaming, like many films have been forced to do over the past year.

It was originally set for release in January, but was pushed back to June in the UK to ensure it could be played in cinemas.

The Father is available in cinemas nationwide as of today, three months after it was released in the States.

It was then released on demand; however, a home release in the UK has not yet been announced.

What is The Father about?

Hopkins plays Anthony, who is struggling with memory loss as he begins to suffer from the symptoms of dementia.
