Stomp through winter in the season’s trending chunky Chelsea boots – here are our top high-street picks

Stomp through winter in the season’s trending chunky Chelsea boots – here are our top high-street picks

With snow predicted in UK weather forecasts for next week, it’s safe to say winter is coming.

And while we love a slinky stiletto or fashion-forward mule, sub-zero temperatures are not compatible with dainty shoes.

We need frost cracking, snowball stomping, puddle proof boots to see us through the great British cold snap – and we’re in luck when it comes to trends.

Chelsea boots have long been a staple in our wardrobes but have had an edgy makeover for 2021. The horse girl vibes given off by the classic style (sorry to the cheugy stacked heel pair lying at the back of my wardrobe) are now decidedly punkier, featuring cleated soles and industrial touches.

The clumpier the better is the rule for this season’s boots, and a simple flatform can elevate them from a nondescript school-run option to a statement element of your outfit.

The key to working this look is confidence. Lean in to the larger-than-life qualities of your footwear, striding with pride until the winter is finally over – at least until next year.

You can also mix things up with bright colours or unexpected textures. A pull-on boot goes with everything, so invest in a pair that’ll see you through the trend cycle and get plenty of wear.

Here are our top picks on the high street right now, with something for all sorts of styles:
