While the major focus of The Great British Bake Off is on the scrumptious desserts, fans couldn’t help but be sidetracked Friday night by Noel Fielding’s eye-catching outfit.
The popular show, which has been running since 2010, returned this week for its 14th season, with Alison Hammond making her debut alongside Noel and judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
The participants were tasked with constructing a trademark vertical layer cake, the original Bake Off cake in the technical challenge, and a sponge showstopper to kick off cake week.
People were also raving about the presenter’s costume, which included the star of The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd donning a sweatshirt advertising indie music band Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The band’s name was front and centre on the warm knit, with snakes wrapping around the letters.
The graphic on the reverse was a touch less family-friendly for the primetime event, with images of the sweater online depicting cheetahs with body parts in their teeth and blood dripping down their faces.
The Fever to Tell jumper was created in partnership with Australia label WAH-WAH to commemorate the band’s 20th anniversary.
The garment may still be purchased online for £145.
After the programme aired, the company stated that it was ‘always a delight to see Noel in our knits’ and congratulated Alison for matching her dress to the design.
‘It was cool of Alison to wear complimentary leopard too,’ they wrote.
Some fans also shared their love of Noel’s clothing item on social media while tuning in, with one person posting on X, formerly Twitter: ‘Loved seeing Noel wearing a Yeah Yeah Yeahs jumper on Bake Off this evening.’
‘New Bake Off is lovely but Noel’s Yeah Yeah Yeah’s jumper is especially lovely,’ someone else shared.
Noel, 50, who has presented the series since 2017, has worn a variety of unique outfits.
In 2020, actor Kaley Cuoco said that while watching earlier episodes, she was fascinated by his design sense.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a video of herself zooming into the television while saying: ‘I’m watching a British baking show and how do I get this shirt? Guys, can someone tell me?’
The actress then described the shirt, adding: ‘It has dogs all over it and it looks like it might be silk, I need this.’
The Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
