One of the most anticipated visitors among the A-listers speculated to attend this year’s star-studded Met Gala is a cat.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City will host this year’s gala, which will memorialise Chanel artistic director Karl Lagerfeld following his death in 2019.
Fans are wondering if his beloved cat Choupette will be walking the red carpet.
‘She got the invitation,’ Lucas Berullier, Choupette’s agent and owner of My Pet Agency, told The New York Post.
‘It’s an event in honor of the legacy of Karl, and Choupette is obviously a central part of the legacy.’
Choupette, a blue-cream tortie Birman, was born on August 15, 2011, to model Baptiste Giabiconi.
After Giabiconi asked Lagerfeld to cat-sit for him, the designer fell in love with the kitten, which Giabiconi agreed to let him keep.
‘It became clear to me that Choupette brought Karl great joy,’ Giabiconi told the New York Times.
‘[Karl] used to say ‘In my life, my priority is Choupette over everything else. She was everything to him. He said, “I’d like to be reincarnated as Choupette.’ People believe Karl is around when Choupette is around, which is kind of magical.”‘
The cat, who has had a luxury existence, has millions of Instagram followers and has even inspired her own cosmetics and handbag lines.
Choupette’s nanny Francoise Cacote took up her care when Lagerfeld died.

The designer reportedly handed the feline his £150 million fortune, telling Numero magazine in 2018: ‘Among others, sure. Don’t be concerned; there is enough for everyone.’
Kim Kardashian teased her Met Gala preparations by posting a photo with the spoiled pet.
On Instagram, the beauty mogul shared a series of Chanel-themed photos, including one of herself resting on an elegant bed next to Choupette.
‘Had a date in Paris with @choupetteofficiel. ‘We then went to @karllagerfeld’s office to grab some ideas for the Met,’ she added.
It comes after the 42-year-old actress was seen arriving at the Ritz in New York with her daughter North West, nine, ahead of the prestigious event.
The Kardashians were allegedly not invited to this year’s event because Vogue editor Anna Wintour had tightened the guest list.
