Vanessa Bryant has shared a heartfelt message about grief ahead of the one-year anniversary of husband Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna’s deaths.
Kobe, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter Giann were killed along with seven others when the helicopter they were travelling in crashed on January 26, 2020.
Vanessa shared her feelings with her followers on Instagram, writing: ‘Let me be real. Grief is a messed up cluster of emotions.
‘One day you’re in the moment laughing and the next day you don’t feel like being alive.
‘I want to say this for the people struggling with grief and heartbreaking loss. Find your reason to live.
‘I know it’s hard. I look at my daughters and I try to push through that feeling for them.’
She concluded: ‘Death is guaranteed but living the rest of the day isn’t. Find your reason.’
The LA Lakers star and his daughter, who was also a keen basketball player, had been on their way to Kobe’s Mamba Academy for basketball practice when the helicopter crashed, killing all nine on board including the pilot.
Kobe and Vanessa had been together for over 20 years and had four children throughout their marriage.
The couple met in 1999 when Vanessa was working as a background model on a music video at the age of 17 and Kobe was 21, getting engaged six months later and married in 2001.
As well as Gianna, the couple also had three more daughters, Natalia, 17, Bianka, four and Capri, one.
Vanessa has often opened up about her heartbreaking loss, and in October she had the names of her whole family tattooed on her foot.
