Tommy Fury has confessed that he underwent surgery, only one day after his infant daughter Bambi’s first birthday celebration.
The Love Island star and pro boxer, 24, marked the milestone with fiancée Molly-Mae Hague by throwing a beautiful party for Bambi.
However, just hours later, he posted an image from a hospital bed.
Tommy wrote: ‘Since 2019 I have been dealing with a hand injury that I’ve never spoken about/shared online.
‘Since my third professional fight I have been trying to manage this injury, training and fighting through extreme pain which led me to often not being able to use my right hand at all.
‘For the last four weeks of my last camp I trained solely with my left hand until fight night.
‘This morning I underwent the surgery I’ve been putting off for years as I know this is the only way my hand will heal and that I can move forward with my boxing career.
‘I’m excited for my recovery journey and so ready to be back feeling and giving 100% in 2024.’
Molly-Mae, also 24, was among many who rushed to the comments to express her love and support, using a succession of red hearts.
Just hours before, the pair, who got engaged in 2023 shortly after Bambi was born, had been posting photos of their house adorned for the occasion.
The renowned pair, who met on Love Island in 2019, celebrated with gifts, balloons, cake, and an all-white theme, which drew criticism.
Molly shared plenty of photos from the big day to Instagram, along with the sweet caption: ‘My one year old. Happy first Birthday to my little girl. I love you more every single day. You’re so beyond special Bambi… I’m so proud to call you my daughter.’
In one shot, she can be seen cradling her baby, both clothed in white, as Bambi smiles at the camera, while in another, the one-year-old eats cake in a high chair next to a wall covered in black-and-white images of her.
Molly also displayed a variety of cakes produced for the event, the majority of which were white, but one she made herself was filled with brightly coloured button chocolate and a rainbow lollipop.
Another shot showed the family cuddling together, while another showed Bambi eating cake while his delighted parents kissed him in front of a special photo wall.
Tommy disclosed in October of last year that he had a hand injury before to his bout with KSI.
He stated that his preparations for his fight with KSI were severely delayed after sustaining a right hand injury during his training camp.
Tommy landed just 39 blows in the six-round battle and won by majority, with one judge scoring it 57-57 tie and the other two rating it 57-56.
‘Listen, at the end of the day, during camp the right hand was out of play for five weeks,’ Fury told Boxing Social after his win over KSI.
‘I’m not an excuse-maker at all, there was a lot going into the build-up with Jake Paul, but did I mention it? No.
‘I’m not an excuse-maker but the right hand was out of play for five weeks, anybody will tell you that. I was in the doctors, everything. So a lot went on, that’s why I got a bit emotional afterwards.
‘Look at the right hand now, it’s absolutely gone.
‘There was a lot going into the build-up to this but again I overcame it all. It’s all experience, it takes a man with some good mental strength to overcome that.
‘At the end of the day, I tried, fought my best and got the win tonight.’
