The Spice Girls are reportedly in talks to create a sequel to Spice World: The Movie, which was released in 1997.

It’s claimed that Geri Horner is currently managing the band and has taken charge of the potential project, which is sure to thrill Spice fans of all ages.

Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B are all tentatively on board for the movie, according to The Sun’s Bizarre column, and are hopeful that Victoria Beckham might sign up for it too.

The potential project has some large platform shoes to fill if it does go ahead, as the original Spic World movie became the highest-grossing movie of all time by a musical group, making over £70million at the box office.

As well Geri, Emma, Victoria, Mel C and Mel B, it also featured a guest list of huge stars including Sir Elton John, Meat Loaf, and Richard E. Grant.

Victoria previously opted out of the Spice Girls reunion tour in 2019, but its hoped that a sequel to the musical comedy might tempt her back in.

A source told the paper: ‘They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward.

‘It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously.’

It’s not the only film project the Spice Girls have on the go as they announced in 2019 that all five of them would voice an animated movie which would feature the ban’s songs.

Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria said at the time: ‘[The Spice Girls] had an idea that we’ve been developing. They are very involved.’

The animated movie was expected to feature classic Spice Girls hits as well as new music created especially for the motion picture.

The film was planned for release in 2020 but the project, like many others affected by the coronavirus pandemic, appears to have stalled.

There is no confirmed release date for the film, which would be centred around the band’s message of ‘girl power’ and see each member’s animated alter-ego have a special power that reflects their personality.
