If Adele hadn’t already cemented herself as being an absolute icon 10 years ago and every day since, this would have done it.
The Easy On Me singer returned from a five-year break in late 2021 and in recent months has been making up for lost time, with multiple number one singles, a number one album and pretty much sweeping the Brit awards.
Now she’s been doing what she does best (well, OK, maybe second-best after being a record-breaking musician): being a relatable queen and reminding everyone how great it is to be a woman.
On Thursday, the star made a surprise appearance at G-A-Y’s Porn Idol event at Heaven nightclub in London, and very clearly had a blast.
The event, which sees contestants strip off on stage to compete for a cash prize, took an even madder turn when RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Cheryl Hole invited Adele on stage to pick the winner.
Adele was seen to be in high spirits as she chatted easily from the stage, and chose Porn Idol contestant Martha as her winner – ‘because we’re females’.
The I Drink Wine Singer had pointedly remarked that she loves being a woman when she collected her Brit award for artist of the year earlier this week, the first year the awards scrapped the gendered category.
And on-stage in Heaven, Adele doubled down on the comments, joyfully asking the star-struck Porn Idol winner: ‘Don’t we love being a f***ing female?’
She went on: ‘We love being a f***ing female, don’t we… We f***ing love being females.’
The genuinely incredible event also featured Adele dancing on a stripper pole, and a random dog appearing on stage next to the singer. (Could you imagine if you had decided to stay in on a Thursday night? RIP.)
