Sir Rod Stewart married Penny Lancaster for the second time while performing his musical successes in Australia.
According to reports, the 79-year-old singer recommitted to his 52-year-old wife as they approached their 16th wedding anniversary, having married in 2007.
Not the first time the couple felt the urge to reaffirm their vows, the couple chose the unique ceremony to commemorate their 10th wedding anniversary back in 2017.
According to Women’s Day magazine, the rocker took time away from the stage to celebrate his marriage milestone after visiting Australia for a series of shows.
Penny and Sir Rod were flanked by the star’s children – Alastair, 17, Aiden, 12, and niece Raphaella, 18 – when they performed another set of vows, according to the tabloid.
They further alleged that Sir Rod’spaced out his trip’ so that his children could readily join him.
A friend close to the family apparently shared: ‘There’s a very good reason why Rod’s insisted he space out his tour dates – it’s the perfect place and the perfect time to renew their wedding vows.
‘Now they can’t wait and are using this chance to do something special while here.
‘Penny and Rod love being in love.
‘They think there’s something fun about celebrating their vows in different locations around the world, so why not do it all again in Sydney!’
According to the source, their vow renewal has been postponed until this year, despite long-standing preparations to marry again.
The pair was reportedly sighted last week taking a boat out on Sydney Harbour, sparking curiosity about the alleged vow renewal.
Following the ceremony, they supposedly celebrated their union with Australian television and radio host Richard Wilkins over supper.
Penny previously revealed their desire to reaffirm their vows for the first time.
She told Hello magazine: ‘Being able to reflect on those ten years, and say those words to one another and still know we mean them is important. This felt more special’.
