Sir David Jason’s wife reveals how they broke news of his long lost child to their daughter

Sir David Jason’s wife has come out following the revelation that the Only Fools and Horses actor is the father of a 52-year-old daughter.

The 83-year-old TV legend described how he discovered he had two daughters and a 10-year-old grandson.

Sir David stated that he had no clue Abi Harris, 52, was his daughter until recently.

Despite being unaware of her existence for so long, Sir David’s wife Lady Gill White and his daughter Sophie allegedly welcomed the long-lost step-child and half-sister into their family.

‘To say it was a surprise is an understatement,’ said the actor known for his part as Del Boy in the TV cult classic.

Lady Gill has spoken out about her reactions to her husband’s admissions and complimented her 22-year-old daughter for how she is handling the situation.

She explained to The Mirror: ‘I can only imagine what a shock it was for David and Abi to realise their new relationship and so I felt very supportive towards them from the start.

‘It is lovely to embrace Abi into our family and I’m so pleased that everyone has been so understanding.

‘We obviously waited for the right moment to tell Sophie as it was a massive surprise for her too.

‘David took her off and worded it beautifully and she took it all in with great understanding and maturity’.

Abi Hill is the daughter of actress Jennifer Hill, and she was born in 1970, after her mother’s brief affair with the famous.

Sir David told the same outlet yesterday, “I am delighted that I am now able to get to know Abi, and we meet up whenever we can.”

‘My wife, Gill, and daughter, Sophie, have been very supportive and understanding and have embraced Abi and welcomed her and her young son into her now wider family’.

The 52-year-old actress revealed this about her newfound father, who dated Jennifer when he was 30: ‘As I put together my father’s identity, I’m beginning to piece together my own.

‘Of course, I am tickled pink and incredibly proud but, frequently, completely overwhelmed with sorrow for the years we have lost.

‘After a measured start, now I hope we can consciously make time to see each other more often, so that I can master the art of being the best big sister and build a meaningful father-daughter relationship in its truest sense’.
