Siegfried and Roy magician Siegfried Fischbacher has died at the age of 81, according to multiple German outlets.
The star died at his home in Las Vegas after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to German news agency DPA.
He had a malignant tumour removed during an operation, but sadly the cancer had already spread in his body.
The star returned home and was cared for by nurses before his death.
Siegfried’s sister Dolore reportedly confirmed his death to Bild and added: ‘He fell asleep gently and peacefully.’
Tributes have been pouring in on social media.
Fischbacher’s death comes less than a year after his partner Roy Horn died of coronavirus.
Fischbacher and Horn were illusionists, best known for their appearances with white lions and tigers.
Their Las Vegas show, Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage Resort and Casino, was iconic, with the pair performing it from 1990 to 2003.
Fischbacher had a passion for magic from a young age, before moving to Italy and working in a hotel.
He found work performing magic on a ship, the TS Bremen, where he met Horn and asked him to assist during a show.
They were later scouted by a cruise liner based in New York City.
In 1967, the pair were discovered in Paris by Tony Azzie, who asked them to come to Las Vegas.
