Shannen Doherty revealed that her breast cancer has spread to her brain in a heartbreaking update.
In 2020, the Charmed actress was diagnosed with stage four cancer and left the spotlight to focus on her health.
In a fresh Instagram post on Tuesday, the 52-year-old revealed that she was having brain radiation therapy.
Alongside a video from January, showing the treatment, she wrote: ‘January 12, 2023. On January 5th, my ct scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterdays video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain.
‘January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life.
‘I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at cedar sinai.
‘But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like [sic].’
Shannen’s eyes wet as she prepared to receive therapy, while her physicians gave her instructions.
Fans and celebrities rushed to express their support to the celebrity in the comments section underneath her post.
Selma Blair penned: ‘This is a lot. This is a lot to take on , still again. And I am wishing for all the wise peace you have learned to find you in the terror moments.
‘To know we are holding you. Love. All love.’
Kyle Richards commented: ‘Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.’
‘Thank you for sharing @theshando you are so brave. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,’ Nina Garcia agreed.
‘I send you love, strength and lighting thoughts. If I only could fight for you too, or just, take your hands and spread my strength through your soul…,’ a follower said.
‘I’m not gonna tell you that you are a warrior, you already knows that and you may think “I have to. What other choice do I have?”
‘But trust me, you are remarkable. I worked on oncology service for years and never seen someone with stage four, fighting like you do.
‘You have all my admiration and support. As always [sic].’
Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and had been in remission when she was notified five years later that it had returned.
‘It’s going to come out in a matter of days or weeks that I am stage four,’ she stated on Good Morning America in February 2020. So my cancer returned, which is why I’m here.
‘I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. There’s definitely days when I say “why me”, and then I go, “well, why not me, who else besides me deserves this?” None of us do.’
‘I’m terrified,’ she said, crying. I’m somewhat terrified. My mother is an incredible, courageous human being, as is my husband, but I worry for him.’
The following year, in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Mallrats star released an honest message, offering viewers a look inside her “own personal journey.”
‘Is it all pretty? NO but it’s truthful and my hope in sharing is that we all become more educated, more familiar with what cancer looks like,’ she wrote at the time.
‘I hope I encourage people to get mammograms, to get regular checkups, to cut thru the fear and face whatever might be in front of you.’
Shannen concluded the post: ‘Finding humor helped get me thru what seemed impossible. I hope we all find humor in the impossible. #breastcancerawareness’.
